From Classroom to Market: Year 10 Business Students’ Journey in Product Design and Sales

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, it’s more important than ever for students to gain practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. At Greenfields, Year 10 business students recently embarked on a remarkable month-long journey that seamlessly integrated classroom learning with real-world application.

Through a hands-on project, these budding entrepreneurs dived deep into the intricacies of product design, marketing strategies, and sales techniques, culminating in a successful showcase of their entrepreneurial endeavours. The project, designed to mirror real-world business scenarios, challenged students to apply their knowledge of business concepts in a practical setting.

Central to the project was the exploration of the four fundamental elements of marketing: product, price, promotion, and place. Guided by their teacher, students delved into each aspect, understanding how they intersect to create a successful business venture.

Armed with creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, students embarked on the journey of product design. They decided on a product, conceptualized brand identities and designed logos that encapsulated the essence of their products.

The climax of the project was the selling phase, where students transformed into salespersons, setting up stalls within the school premises, they engaged with fellow students and teachers.

As the project concluded, it was evident that the impact extended far beyond the confines of the classroom. Students emerged with a deeper understanding of the importance of marketing and sales strategies. Moreover, they developed crucial soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving – skills that are invaluable in any career path they choose to pursue.
